Un Chingo de Chiclets is my latest series exploring the concept of "Chicanostalgia", or a mashup of Chicano Pop culture dripping in nostalgia. It bridges the gap between my childhood memories, digital work as visual designer in tech, and tangible handmade art IRL.

I work to elevate consumables like gum and Mexican candy into art that gives the individual components a higher purpose.

Chiclets and pixels, like humans, don't have much purpose alone. It is not until we accept our interdependence that we become the beautiful mosaic God calls us to be.

This metaphor holds up even as I explore different shapes and sized of canvases. On a small canvas, the chiclets have to be arranged in such a particular way that they are still identifiable at a distance. The more chiclets I have to play with, the more freedom I have to bring the subject to life.
